#A-7741 leaves an overhead stocker with a clean history flag that nobody audited since the last pod clean cycle. Interior door seals look fine from three meters. They always do.
Question the travelogue asks here: when was the last certified clean for this serial, not for “FOUPs in general”?
06:40 — AMHS kiss
A vehicle docks. Handoff vibration is within spec on paper. A slight scrape on the conveyor interface leaves a black comma of polymer dust on the FOUP skirt—below eye level, above care.

Handoffs are mechanical events. Mechanical events shed.
07:05 — Loadport #12
Loadport mapping passes. An operator overrides a “door slow” warning because the lot is hot. Door seal compresses through a film of prior resist flakes from yesterday’s mis-slot lot that shared this port.
Travelogue rule: loadports have memory. FOUPs inherit it.
08:20 — Tool A (etch sibling)
Wafers process. FOUP waits. Purge nitrogen on the port is “usually on.” Today the flow switch is sticky. Nobody owns sticky.
10:55 — Cross-bay transfer
#A-7741 rides past a construction zipper wall. Softwall flaps. A pressure imbalance kisses the carrier path. AMHS still shows green.
Green is not particle-neutral.
13:40 — Metrology queue
FOUP opens on a metrology loadport that doubled as a “quick check” for an engineering wafer cassette adapter last week. Adapter not booked in the contamination log because the log is a shared spreadsheet with write access for everyone and ownership for no one.
15:10 — Particle event (finally named)
Inline inspection flags a signature that correlates with skirt dust + loadport film + purge miss—not with the etch recipe that will be blamed first.

The recipe did not ride the AMHS. The carrier did.

What the travelogue refuses
- Blaming AMC for every particle without a route

Adjacent fences
Lithography AMC hunts own airborne molecular contamination detective work. UPW programs own wet purity. Photoresist track owns coat logistics. Dry vacuum owns pump health. None of them own FOUP serial clean cycles and AMHS handoff abrasion. Do not fund an AMC cart and expect carrier-route honesty.
